These are an array of serious lung diseases that cause inflammation and scarring, or fibrosis, of the lung. They can be from unknown causes as with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis or due to familial disorders, drug toxicity, connective tissue diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, sarcoidosis, hypersensitivity pneumonitis, occupational or smoking-related disorders.
It is important to have a very thorough evaluation for appropriate diagnosis and management. Our group offers a multidisciplinary approach to your care with a dedicated team of pulmonologists, chest radiologists, pathologists, rheumatologists and chest surgeons with extensive experience in interstitial lung diseases.
We will work closely with your primary care doctor, or pulmonologist to closely coordinate your care and needs including diagnostic evaluation, oxygen therapy, lung biopsy if necessary, management of immune suppression, if appropriate, and referral for pulmonary rehabilitation, clinical research studies or lung transplantation.
